Fauxgrown Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 20, 2026
Fauxgrown ("we", "us") is a community app where people ask everyday questions (cooking, repairs, money, family, cars, gardens, pets, tech, life) and other people answer kindly. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how you can delete it.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and a password. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider; we never see or store your plain-text password.
- Profile details you choose to give: your first name or nickname, an optional one-line "how I know what I know" description, and the topics you're interested in.
- What you post and do in the app: your questions, replies, "Helpful" votes, saved questions, reports you send, and people you block.
- Notification details: a push-notification token for your device and your notification on/off preference, so we can tell you when someone answers your question.
- App preferences: your light/dark mode setting.
- Advertising data: the app shows ads served by Google AdMob. Google may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, and ad interaction data to deliver and measure ads. See how Google uses data from ads. In some regions you'll first see a privacy message asking for your choices, which you can change later. You can also reset or opt out of personalized ads in your phone's Google settings.
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or microphone/camera data, and we don't use analytics trackers. Ad content is limited to family-friendly ratings.
How we use it
- To run the app: sign you in, show your profile, and display your questions and replies.
- To send a push notification when someone answers your question (you can turn this off in Profile).
- To keep the community kind: automated word filtering, reviewing reports, and removing content or restricting accounts that break our Terms.
Who can see it
- Other users can see your questions and replies, along with the first name/nickname and one-line description you chose to show with them. Your email address is never shown to other users.
- Reports you send are private. The person you report is not told who reported them.
- Service providers that process data on our behalf: Supabase (database, sign-in, and hosting), Expo (push notification delivery), and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (push delivery on Android). They only handle data as needed to provide those services.
- Google AdMob receives the advertising data described above in order to show ads. We don't send it your email, name, or anything you post.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We may disclose information if required by law or to protect people's safety.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep your information while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile → Delete my account. This permanently deletes your profile, questions, replies, votes, saves, reports, blocks, and notification tokens. Other people's replies to your questions are removed along with the question. Copies may remain in provider backups for a limited time before they are overwritten.
If you can't open the app, see how to request deletion on the web.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and access to the database is restricted with per-user access rules. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Children
Fauxgrown is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way (for example, by adding advertising), we will update this page and the effective date, and tell you in the app where required.
